Carcinoid (FC)

Carcinoid Cancer Group, November 2018 (FC)

Capital Area Carcinoid Survivors (CACS) Support Group’s Nov 10th - Neuroendocrine Tumor Cancer Research Fundraiser Walk NET cancer is officially designated as an orphan disease because of its rarity. Though rare, it has taken several prominent lives -- including Steve Jobs and Aretha Franklin among many others. While there is no cure (yet), early detection, removal if possible, and proper ongoing treatment significantly prolongs life. Because of NET cancer’s rarity and poor awareness even among the medical community, investment in medical research has been very small. The Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation (NETRF) is working hard to change this by funding research to discover cures and more effective treatments for Neuroendocrine cancers. Please Support the "DC Walk for Carcinoid Cancer Research" on Saturday Nov 10th (International NET Cancer Day). You can support our efforts 3 ways: • Register and Walk to raise funds • Donate via the CACS/NETRF - DC Walk Fundraiser Page • Just come and cheer us on 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the NETRF and all funds raised are being MATCHED, so your gift will be doubled! Any amount is greatly appreciated. Walk Location: Quincy Park baseball field (10th & Nelson St. Arlington, VA) (NOTE: there are 2 ball fields in Quincy Park – be sure to go to this one). 1021 N. Quincy Street Arlington, VA 22201 Walk Time: 10am – Noon Immediately Following the Walk, the CACS Group will hold its meeting at a special location in Arlington, VA. Guest speakers will be: • Josh Mailman, patient advocate. Topic: how to have better doctor-patient conversations. • Susan Payson, of NETRF, speaking on NET cancer research. • Details are at CACS Future Events web page.
